Beauty is in the eyes of the... Ignorance is Bliss.

Davy: (as we're straightening up the house after a crazy day)... "So, baby how are you feeling?"

Me: (deep sigh) "Ugh... I'm overwhelmed. The house is a wreck and driving me crazy... and I just don't have the time or energy to do anything about it."

Davy: "I don't get it... the house looks fine. It'll just take a few minutes to pick things up."

Me: " Well the bathrooms haven't been cleaned in weeks. There's a strange smell that I can't figure out. The floors are grimy. Have you even seen Evangeline's room?! Our room is unorganized. The fridge needs to be cleaned out. The sink is full of dirty dishes. There are piles of laundry everywhere... and muddy handprints on the bathroom wall... and we're having a baby in 9 weeks."

Davy: " Oh... I thought the house looked great."

Suddenly, as if the state of my filthy house and overly optimistic husband weren't enough to send me over the edge, I flash back to getting in the car for a date night last week...

"Hey baby... You look great!"

I seriously doubt I will ever be flattered by a compliment from my adoring, glass half full, blissfully ignorant husband again.
