Daily Affirmations ... and what-have-you...

There will come a time in every smart women’s life that she will realize and embrace the fact that the most encouraging and effective affirmations will come from one’s self.

In my recent experience, Iyanla, may have to step in on occasion when my self confidence isn’t up to par... but as a whole... I believe that if one can truly look in the mirror and give that worn out reflection a pep talk and a healthy dose of grace... therein lies one of life’s greatest of gifts.

It is in this vein that I present...

                              Jessica’s Daily Affirmations.

“ Jessica, You are smart, funny, compassionate and kind. You’ve gained some inches in your midsection which makes your, already stretchy, jeans uncomfortably snug and thus sends you into a frantic tizzy whenever forced to get dressed and leave the house.

But take heart... It could be worse...  It could be mid-summer and the unwarranted elasticity of your swimsuit could be the current problem... squeezing all of your hot Krispie Kreme donuts, unrealized potential and pent up anxiety out the back of your suit with nowhere to hide since you’re a mom of four on the beach and you have to do things like dig holes for kids to sit and pee in...  rinse off yogurt spoons and run at full speed to catch a rogue golden swan float that was inspired to take flight by a sudden gust of wind.

It’s just a Monday... and you only have to put those jeans on for 45 minutes... an hour, tops.

You’ve got this... you have unlocked the secret to true self confidence. The balance of self-care and self-forgetfulness.
Self-care: Put on your own oxygen mask. Take a hot bath. Do something that brings you joy... today. Do it today.
Self-forgetfulness: Trust your instinct. Don’t overthink. Forget about what others are thinking about you... and just be. Be present. Listen. When you can truly forget about yourself for a moment... you can give unconditionally to someone else.

And also... you’ve been through a lot lately... give yourself grace, don’t stress about the laundry ... Sing in the shower. Pray when doubt creeps in. REST.”

P.S. “For all that is good and holy... please bring your potted olive tree inside! I’m gonna have to talk you off a ledge if you kill that thing.”
